Let people come and go as they please. Eat, drink and be merry... It's all about the parade,isn't it? And being adorable in their costumes and giving hugs and kisses to the fictional woman and man. As the fictional queen once said, "Let them eat hamenatachen!" (or was that Marie Antoinette or maybe not?)
